Slaying a Fascist with His Bare Hands! Captain Salinkov's Feat of Heroism.
Sized 21 ¼" by 17 3/8". Printed on heavy paper c1943-44.
Overall good condition. At some point, folded in quarters - although now rolled. Tears carefully reinforced on the reverse with paper tape. Some crumpling and minor paper loss at edges which would be covered by a mat if framed.
Unlike war artists in many other countries during WW 2, Soviets were always expected to be propagandists first. As a result, there was very little in their work that seemed completely realistic today. Still, this is a fine example of their attempts to both report and inspire bravery.
