Lot of 2 Documents to Boris Gosudarskiy.
1. Retirement greeting / thank you letter issued on 14 March 1947 behalf of Marshal Sokolovsky, Supreme Commander of the Soviet Army of Occupation in Germany. Measures 11 ½" x 15 ½". Nice artwork in color features Stalin's portrait, Kremlin, tanks and airplanes and an Order of Glory.
In good condition. Shows folds, small clips on the margins and minor separations along the folds some of which have period repairs on verso with backing paper (curiously, one of the scraps used for repair clearly came from another honorary certificate!) The document is very attractive and intact overall, without any significant damage.
2. Cumulative unit citation listing the eleven battles in which the recipient's unit - 322nd Rifle Division - earned honorary mentioning in Stalin decrees. Among them are the capture of the cities of Zhitomir, Tarnopol and Lvov in Ukraine, Krakow in Poland, Opava in Czechoslovakia and Ratibor in Germany. The document further states that Gosudarsky participated in 10 of these battles. Measures 8" x 11 ½" Hand-signed by Col Prats'ko, acting commander of the 539th Rifle Regiment, Western Front and shows ink stamp of the unit. In good to very good condition. Shows folds but otherwise almost completely intact. A clear tape has been applied to verso in 3 spots to prevent separations.
