Badge for Long Distance Voyage on a Surface Ship, to a
participant of the Naval Exercise Okean, 1970.
Brass, enamels, lacquer; measures 26.4 mm in height (not
including the pendant, between the bottom of the wreath and
the top point of the flag); 28.9 mm in width (measured near
the bottom, between the lower edge of the red plaque and the
rightmost point of the wreath). Unlike the regular issue
Long Distance Voyage badge for surface ship crews, this
badge features a lacquered pendant with the name of the
exercise Okean ("Ocean"). The reverse of the badge has
raised logos of the Pobeda Factory in Moscow marked in two
spots above and below the pin.
In excellent condition. The enamel shows only a couple of
tiny contact marks that are barely noticeable, completely
free of the usual hairlines and chips. The lacquer on the
pendant is intact. Details and fire gilt finish are
The badge was issued to the crewmen of the surface ships and
some personnel of the Soviet Land Forces who had
participated in the naval exercise Okean ("Ocean"). These
Warsaw Pact war games were unprecedented in their scale,
numbering hundreds of warships simultaneously deployed in
all four oceans.
