"Nasten'ka", 1943 poster illustrating Nazi atrocities in German occupied territories, printed in Moscow in 1943.

"Nasten'ka", 1943 poster illustrating Nazi atrocities in German occupied territories, printed in Moscow in 1943.

Approximately 15" x 13", artwork by B. Mukhin. The story on the bottom tells of a 15-year old peasant girl, Anastasiya (Nasten'ka) Makarova, burned to death by the Germans during their retreat from the village of Mishinka near Vyazma. The chilling and graphic details cry for vengeance.

Very good to excellent condition. Once folded but has been stored rolled in a tube. Mounting on linen would probably eliminate any traces of the folds. One tiny hole in each corner from where it was once mounted on a bulletin board. Two tiny reinforcements with acid free tape. Some darkening on the reverse bottom edge that does not seem to impact the front at all. Small paper tag on the reverse.

The exaggerated German uniforms seen on Soviet wartime posters bring to mind the "over the top" military costumes that Hollywood was dressing its film "Nazis" in at the very same time!
